DG wiggled her bare toes and drew her knees up to herself. She sat on her bed waiting for him, smiling to herself. He believed her, she knew it, and she had a new story to tell him. Like clockwork he arrived and smiled warmly at her.
"Good morning, DG." His tone held a soothing calm like no one else's. "Did you sleep well?"
"I went on an adventure." Excited, she bit her lip and rocked forward onto her knees, leaning towards him. "I went back to Finaqua!"
"Magical waters, right?"
"You remembered!" She beamed.
"I remember everything you tell me DG." He smiled again, kind and warm. "You must have been very sneaky, nobody saw you leave."
DG waved a hand dismissively. "They don't watch very well. You know that." They didn't believe her anyway.
"Ah, right." He sighed softly. Of course not. "Well… tell me about your adventure, hm?"
"We went to the lake, and all the flowers were blooming-"
"We?" He frowned.
"You know! Me, and Mr. Cain, and-"
"Hm, they didn't see Mr. Cain leave either."
"I told you, they just... they don't really watch. Did you talk to him today?"
"I didn't yet today." She saw sadness flicker in his eyes and wondered why. She didn't know he'd made another attack on himself, tearing at his own chest, trying to dig out his own heart. “Tell me… What were the flowers like?"
"Colors like you can't even imagine! And some of the flowers are like nothing you’d ever see around here. Really, I've never seen anything so... so..."
"You can draw it for me sometime, if you like. You know how I enjoy looking at your drawings."
She smiled. "I'll bring you there one day, Dr. Ambrose. I promise."
"That would require quite a glitch."
