First off, it's not the best movie I've ever seen. But, after three weeks or so after seeing it, it still lingers with me. The reason I believe the ending works is because it is true to the characters. The decision the characters make by the end of the film are not ones I agree with, but they're true to the characters and the story. And there are pieces of 'inspiration', if you will. Tragic things happen to Maggie, but she got her chance, and she acknowledged that. Frankie ends up taking her life out of sheer love for her. I don't know. Can't give you any easy answers. The only thing I can think of is that, in my opinion, the way the story unfolds never takes a false turn, along with the characters, all the way till the bitter end. Just because it's so depressing doesn't not make it art, or a brilliant piece of work. Just my two cents.
That photo is perfect for rants such as this. You look as if you are yelling in complete frustration at the odacity of a differing opinion. Either that, or you are laughing... one of the two.
Was I ranting? God, I hope not. I DIDN'T MEAN TO, if I did. The picture, I think, is me overjoyed at the fact that Tartuffe will not be leaving the Orgon household...

Haven't seen Million Dollar Baby, so I can't comment, although Alex says it is the best movie he has ever seen.
Good luck with your homework.
