I love these lists in other people's journals, so I decided to follow suit.
1. Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin by Kathy Griffin
I know a lot of people have mixed views of her. I thought she was crass and way too out there for my taste until I started watching her reality show. She's a lot more vulnerable than she appears and watching her interact with her friends and family really changed my perspective of her. Now, I find her hilarious in an outrageous way. Her book reads as if she is sitting in front of you and telling you a story. It sounds just like her which, for me, was just what I wanted. I really loved it!
2. Anybody Out There? by Marian Keyes
There were so many things I wasn't expecting in this story. All of the twists, turns, and reveals kept me completely engaged. If I hadn't had to work today, I would've stayed up all night to finish the book. However, as gripping as it was, I was even more surprised by how many times I teared up. As much as I love reading, I rarely am so touched by a story that I actually cry. So, that's definitely a testament to the author's ability to find the rawness of emotion, while at the same time finding wonderful humor throughout the book. Highly recommended. In fact, I recommend really anything by this author.
******OK, even though I don't have the energy to do write-ups for them right now, I'm going to go ahead and list the rest of the books I've read so far this year. Actual thoughts and opinions will be coming soon.******
