what do we have to do to get people to take this into consideration?:

Coca-Cola has been accused of arming its factories in Colombia with para-military thugs.

Nestle has been accused of mass marketing an infant formula as a breast milk substitute to third world women.

Disney has been accused of maintaining sweat shops in Haiti and Bangladesh.

Infant formula IS a substitute for breast milk.
That's what it's for, if you don't want to or can't breast feed.
And on top of that, if the women with these "poisoned by formula" babies are living in the third world countries, they probably aren't getting enough to eat, therefore their breast milk probably isn't that nourishing to the baby anyway, and the formula just might be better for them.

I have 2 kids. 1 of them I tried to breastfeed and he refused to do so, and the other I didn't even try because of the anguish that was caused by the first attempt.
If I didn't have that horrible Nestle formula, my kids would be dead.
Damn them for making their products.
How inorganic.

"Breast milk is free, healthy and protects against infection, but not very profitable for a maker of baby formula. Practices like sending sales reps into hospitals dressed as nurses to promote products to mothers were common place. The pitch was that Nestle's formula was better than breast milk - in fact, any mother that "really" cared about her baby would use Nestle breast-milk substitute. Mothers were often given a free supply of baby formula that lasted just long enough to dry out their own breast milk. These mothers, lacking sanitized water, and with their breast milk now dried up, mixed the formula with the only water they had."--Kevin Begley ( ... )
