Perhaps someone can straighten things out here. I've found this nice copy of Romeo and Juliet to read, since it's been some time since I was first introduced to it. However when I read about the author, it seemed to insist that Shakespeare was from some place called England, as opposed to Harmonia, as is common knowledge. I realize most of you ( Read more... )

[voice]. [action], shakespeare is a lie!!, it's amazing that this is canon

[When Lilly gets home, Marica will be at the kitchen table with a sandwich, frowning at a science textbook. It has insultingly large print and a healthy dosage of colorful pictures plastered across its pages. She leans out for a look at the front door when she hears it open.]

Oh, hey, Lilly.

You think? I'll be sure to give it a try. [Doesn't sound too far-fetched, anyway.]

It's kinda funny. I didn't think I'd ever be sitting at a table trying to study diagrams of blobs like this.

I never quite saw myself here either. [Horrid, isn't it?] But I suppose it could be worse.

I suppose you're right. At least I'm... enriching my mind, I guess. [Even if it doesn't always feel like it.] I can't imagine doing this for years on end, though.

I suppose it might be different if you had grown up doing it.

[Insulting as that probably sounds, Lilly didn't intend it that way. It just makes sense to her.]

[It seems true enough to Marica.] You're probably right. My village isn't very big on books... Though we grow some pretty mean tomatoes.

[Or Marica, such an adorably quaint girl!]

I'm sure they're quite delicious.

[?

Maybe Lilly's a tomato fan.] Our tomatoes get traded all over the continent, so they'd hafta be.

[Not terribly so. But then, Tinto never grew their own.]

Farming wasn't much of a staple for Tinto. We'd import vegetables from Dunan, but they weren't always at their ripest.

That's too bad. Tomatoes are the candy of nature, as they say! And fresh vegetables are the best ingredients to a healthy kid.

I've never heard anyone say that. [They're not even that sweet!]

That's because they haven't had the right ones! It's a shame I can't bring some from back home...

Are they really so different? Maybe you just need to grow them yourself.

I have a feeling it's more than that, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try anyway... Oh, I know -- we could find a spot of land and start up a little garden! What do you think?

[We? We?]

I. I really don't know anything about gardening. [Nor do I want to.]

[We!]

That's okay! It's pretty simple. And it's a good thing to learn, don't you think?
