Today I went for another massage.  On my way to the garage, I decided to stop by the mail box and see if anyone had sent me anything (I love getting mail).  About two feet from the mail box, I stopped dead in my tracks.  Lying there, minding hir own business was a 5 foot snake.  S/he was half in the geraniums and half in the street.  Hir head was

We did a big group ritual for Ostara in 2007. It was misty and cold as heck, but as we were doing the Mari possession, a black & white snake almost magically appeared underneath elemirion's (who was horsing Mari) foot. We were all kind of shocked because it was danged cold for a cold-blooded type to be moving around, and that we were in the middle of a field but no one had noticed the snake until just that second. I believe one of the folks from the rit gave her a home...

I'm wondering how long it has been since your initiation...

G once said something to me that has proven true: to not teach Feri until after 5 years of being initiated. I thought this was bullshit, but have come to realize that the 5-7 year mark is when most of us come into "our" Feri work. I think that is what he was pointing to.

My initiation was in January '05 so it hasn't even been 3 1/2 years yet. I'm not feeling that teaching is what is calling me. I do have one "apprentice" but am not very inclined to teach anyone else at the moment.
So, I have a few years yet to go as far as the 5-7 year mark. Teaching may be something down the road but....there's something else...

It wasn't the teaching I was talking about. It was the "coming into our work" part, which was what I discovered, and think G was attempting to get at. Wondering if you are entering something that will bring you there...

Yes, after I sent the reply and reread your comment, I realised what you were saying. I'm still a little "hazy" from the magnificent massage I received yesterday that put me into trance with snakes and wells and singing. I do believe you are right about my entering into something that will "bring me there". Thanks.

Beautiful sister...!! What an amazing experience. I am toying with the idea of an ouroboros tattoo.... My dance company is devoted to serpent energy and I just got a pentacle with a serpent interwoven into it as a symbol of the connection of my dance and Feri. I would love to hear more about your serpent experiences...

Wow, what a wonderful experience. I have to laugh, I have a pentacle with a snake intertwined as well. I bought it in SF at Tools of Magick in the mid 90's when I lived there, and wore it a lot for awhile. Whilst living in the Bible Belt it stayed in my jewelry chest, but prior to my Initiation I was instructed in no uncertain terms that I had to wear it for the rite. Of course, I did! xox
