I finally got my hands on L.K. Madigan's "The Mermaid's Mirror" this week, which I liked a lot.  I had a really funny moment with the beginning of it, though.  There's a character who's referred to from the start as Pem and Pember.  I'd just read a bit of the book, and was wondering (when I had to set it down) whether the character was named
