B&W bitch-slap

Has anyone ordered prints from black and white digital photos on the interweb? There's a site called Pictage.com that does fantastic quality prints, but it's not cheap -- their 4x6" prints are $4.50 apiece. I'm willing to pay good money for good quality, so please leave a comment if you're aware of other sites like this. (The first person who ( Read more... )

The photos are almost ready -- I'll definitely let you know when they are. My photographers were Richard and Lucinda Wedge of Images All Ways, but they're based in Los Angeles. They're also my cousins, which is why they agreed to shoot our wedding (we bought their plane tickets, and they did the rest for free -- sweet deal).

If you're looking for a photographer, another of my cousins in MA (Lucinda's sister) has a good friend who does wedding photography; her website is www.photobeth.com. I've met her (Beth) on numerous occasions and talked with her about her wedding photo philosophy just out of curiosity, and based on the photos on her website and what she had to say she might make a good choice...

No (?) -- did you email either my gmail or jecronin accounts? I don't ever check hotmail anymore because it makes my computer FREAK OUT.

Also, just received word 2 seconds ago that the wedding photos should be viewable tomorrow!!! I'll let you know for sure.

it's hard to say, out here the art & high quality labs charge up to $16 for a 4x6, but i was also able to find machine prints for $1 each. i guess my point is, if the quality is good, maybe $4.50 is a pretty good deal, but i do totally hear you on not wanting family members to fork over a ton on making their own albums.

have you looked into those apple photo albums at all? maybe you and el maritossociado could select an album with captions and offer that family members could order it?

or maybe all that is way out of the range of reality.

H and I don't mind paying $4.50 for a 4x6 because like you say, if we were dealing with a photographer we'd be paying twice that, but I do feel like it's an awful lot for wedding guests who want a snapshot or two.

Most of our family members will have a difficult enough time just logging on to their computers before trying to access the photos on the internets -- the apple albums may be too much! One thought I had was to have people let me know if there's a photo on Pictage that they really like so I can upload it to snapfish or whatever and have them order from there.

The photos from the disposable cameras we had on tables at the reception should all be up on snapfish within a week or two, which will make things a little less painful for everyone...

The HELP section on their website says they don't process B&W film, so I emailed them to ask if they do B&W prints from digital cameras... they said that since they don't normally print in B&W they can't vouch for the quality of B&W prints from digital cameras. That made me nervous because I'd hate to have shitty wedding photos.

Gotcha! Just wondering 'cause I use snapfish for prints of all of my digital photos and wanted to make sure they weren't the devil in disguise.

Are we all going to get to see some pictures? hint hint hint...

I think snapfish is a-okay for color prints (in fact, we've sent them all of the disposable cameras from our reception and are presently waiting for prints!) -- the photos from our photographers should be online tomorrow -- send me your email address (tiny_chicken at livejournal dot com) and I'll forward you a link :)

Well, alex uses ezprints.com for pictures up to 16x20, color or black and white, that he uses in photography shows, so he feels the quality is very good. but they seem along the lines as snapfish and ofoto, so i'm not sure.... He feels ezprints is a better place, but you should look at it yourself.
