I think I am the only one that hasn't read or started to read the new Harry Potter book. It isn't that I'm over Harry... geeze, far from that! Believe me, I am still very much obsessed. But I'm also broke and have to throw all my cash towards my phone bill... so it will probably be a long time before I can actually buy the book. And surely the book ( Read more... )

Oh yes, you will find that they become quite addicting. I remember before I read the first one I claimed I hated Harry Potter because everyone made such a big deal about it... but now I've got t-shirts and blah blah. hehe

i hate harry potter.

people tell me i have to read past the first book in order to get into it, but i find the writing to be kind of mundane and the story lines to be over done, when you take away the magic stuff.

oh well, i seem to be alone on the island in this discussion ... everyone loves harry.

It's not that you're alone, it's just that you haven't presented any actual arguments.

Hey, you know... I was in your shoes once. I seriously made fun of it so much and couldn't understand what the big deal was. Then I made myself read the book... didn't really like it but kept reading until I finished and was all like, "Shit! I love Harry Potter."

The first two books are sort of... youngerish feeling, but as the books go on (and what I've been reading of book six now) they're growing up and so does the theme of the books. Or at least I think so.

But yes, the lines in the first book are overdone. But all the books aren't like that and the first book is so short! I demand you rethink Harry Potter and read up ;)
