1.) New Pirates movie=awesome. I still think "Curse of the Black Pearl" was a little better, but "Dead Man's Chest" was still amazing. 2007, and the third installment, can't get here fast enough! (As an aside, I was really appalled by how many young children were in the audience. They were well-behaved, at least--but come on, parents, do you think ( Read more... )

Vague memory tells me that it is alright for stitches to come out, if the wound stays closed once they do fall out.

It'd actually be a bad thing if the stitches stay in for awhile, since that'd mean that as the flesh tried to heal and grew around the stitches, the skin also latched onto the stitches. That can be very painful, since the doc then has to forcibly remove 'em./

A lot of times they use stitches that disolve, apparently you have the kind that need to be taken out? But Ama's right, don't worry long as the wound stays closed, no blood and no pain.

U2? Oh dear... *runs to make a list of not to be missed for Athena*

I don't really know what they gave me. I've lost two now--they're just slipping out, no pain, no blood. The surgeon didn't say anything about needing to remove them manually or anything, so I assume it's okay; guess we'll see what they think at the appointment tomorrow.

And I didn't really go without hearing U2 for 18 years--"Mysterious Ways" is on the radio all the time, I just never knew it was them. Heh. :)

Yeah, I think it's fine for the stitches to be coming out. They're there to hold the wound closed, so if it's staying closed on it's own, it should be fine. If there was anything weird about it they would've told you.

I saw DMC the other day. I agree that Black Pearl was better, but DMC had some good moments. I'm actually not surprised that the five-year-olds were interested, since it's got plenty of action and slapstick. Unfortunately, I'm also not surprised that parents were taking their kids to a PG-13 movie where we see a helpless man get his throat cut. Eh. The kids probably dealt with it better than I did.

I had my follow-up today and the surgeon approved it, so all's well. I didn't think anything was wrong, but it's reassuring to get that confirmed. :)

Yeah, I wouldn't say the PotC movies don't have anything to interest kids, but between the violence, the jump scenes, the innuendo, the murders, the Kraken...well, I'd kind of hope that maybe parents would think it was all a *bit* much for a five-year-old. At least the kids were well-behaved.
Anyway, I thought Black Pearl's plot was much tighter, but I enjoyed DMC. At least they didn't skimp on the humor, which really helped. "I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt!" :D

I'm so glad your recovering from your surgery ok Little One *smiles*

Speaking of movies, I had a similar reaction to the audience at Superman Returns, not that the movie was too violent or scarey for kids, quite the opposite. If I was a pre-teen I'd have found the slow moving touchy-feely plot deathly dull and the kids in the audience agreed :)

I'm definitely looking forard to seeing Dead Man's Chest myself.

As for U2? I'm very surprised you hadn't gotten into it before now. "Where the Streets Have No Name" has always been one of my favorite songs.
