PERSONALITY:
If I had to sum up Trucy, I’d call her a little ball of sunshine. She’s adorable, perky, quirky, and makes it her job to make her loved ones feel happy. TV Tropes describes her as such things as a “Cloudcuckoolander”, “Genki Girl”, and “The Woobie”. All of which are all too true.
Trucy gets attached to people extremely fast, warming up to Phoenix in a matter of minutes and calling him “Daddy” only a few weeks after her biological father’s disappearance. Trucy is a very trusting person and it’s in her nature to trust just about anyone. When she really puts her faith in someone, her trust is incredible hard to break without evidence that her trust is unwarranted. She also trusts what the people close to her say, and holds their beliefs in high regard. For example, when Zak tells Trucy that Phoenix can be trusted, she deems Phoenix worthy of her trust and almost immediately befriends him.
She is also a bit of a trickster. Even before she inherited Hobo!Phoenix’s loose morals, she is easily convinced to do something considered “bad” for the benefit of those she loves. She helps her father escape the police and his ultimate penalty of a “Guilty” verdict because she knows he is innocent and has no desire to see her father locked up. However, these decisions usually come back to bite her in the end. She is genuinely upset by her father’s disappearance when he fails to return after several weeks. Her trusting nature also causes her to accept the forged diary page from Kristoph and give it to Phoenix without question which causes her a great deal of guilt later on.
Trucy’s emotions tend to bounce around a lot. She could be depressed one minute and grinning away the next. This is a combination of both her ditsy personality and the fact that she has to act eight some of the time. Yet most of the time, she is her typical smiley self.
She isn’t afraid to state her opinion bluntly however, which might offend some people. She doesn’t do it out of spite, she’s simply sharing her own feelings and she usually does so for the benefit of others. This quality tends to make her seem older than she really is. She tends to take charge of situations and has a great deal of confidence, perceptiveness and maturity for such a young child. She refers to herself as a “young professional” and immediately takes charge of starting a new life for Phoenix and herself after he loses his badge.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Trucy is a magician in training, and she’s already extremely talented at the craft. She’s an amazing ventriloquist, able to hide “Mr. Hat”, a large wooden puppet in her cape and pull him out without lifting a finger and make him speak without moving her lips at all. She’s also pretty gifted at fooling people with her tricks, which she displays when she fools Officer Meekins into believing Mr. Hat is her father, Zak. She later learns how to pull items from an ordinary pair of underwear!
But Trucy comes from a family of magicians, so it’s not too surprising she’s inherited the talent. Her mother, Thalassa Gramarye, her father Zak Gramarye and his partner Valant were a part of her grandfather, Magnifi Gramarye’s magic troupe. She’s been training practically her entire life to become a professional magician worthy of the Gramarye name. Because of her Gramarye lineage she’s also in inherited the ability to “Perceive”.
The ability allows one to see the subtle movements people make. They are usually habits, such as fiddling with a corner of a page of a book or twisting a ring. When she is “perceiving”, she becomes extremely focused and is able to get a close up view of the person she is perceiving. This ability is very useful as it allows one to learn if a person is lying. She often uses the trick when Phoenix is playing a big poker game to find out if his opponent has a good hand or not. Also, unlike her half-brother Apollo and presumably her mother, she does not need a bracelet to access this ability.
