How could such thing have happened?
He sure as hell hadn’t imagined this to be the way to see Jin again. Well, to be honest, he hadn’t imagined it at all. Kame always refrained his thoughts from wandering to the past that only brought him regret and which Jin made part of. They had made a promise to meet again, but at that time they were young and ingenuous and certainly would never think destiny would set them up like this.
The silent ticking of his watch slaps Kame gently back to reality and he hesitantly moves his hand to touch Jin’s cheek, sends the magic through Jin’s body that makes the latter’s heart beat again, is startled when Jin abruptly sits up, jumps out the coffin and grabs for something, anything, which ends up being a chair he holds protectively in front of him ( ... )

“I take the couch,” Kame says once they’re inside his small, cosy house. There’s only one bed, for the effect, and he doesn’t want his last-hour guest to sleep on the couch; it is kind of worned out and he embarrassedly covers a hole as he lies down over it “I insist,” he says when Jin opens his mouth to protest and the latter shuts it again.
“We can share the bed, you know?” Jin proposes once he gets a look at the borad mattress. It’s enough for both of them to fit in “I won’t bite.”
“I know, but I can kill“Come on. I promise to stay on the far opposite side,” Jin throws him one of his goofy grins and he’s still waiting, standing by the door, doesn’t intend to budge until he gets what he wants, and Kame sighs, gives in, because Jin has that effect on him; makes him give in too easily, besides, his will isn’t so strong given the circumstances ( ... )

The words still float in his head like the worst thing someone has ever told him. It probably is, it may not, but it was Jin who said them, with those eyes of his judging him, forsaking him for what he’s done.
Pi calls around an hour later when Jin’s finally overtaken by sleep. He says Jin’s alright, he’ll eventually be. Just give him some time.
And Kame does. It’s Jin who comes to him first, faces him with a different expression and makes him an unthinkable request. In front of the tomb of his father, he asks of him, pleads almost, for something he has never before.
Kame is quick to back away, shake his head “I can’t,” he says, like he did so many times before to refuse Jin. It’s always I can, but i won’t and Jin knows why; he knows, but wants to be unreasonable, for once ( ... )
