I think you nailed it right on the head. The incredibly entangled roots...that go DEEP. They go into the deepest and most sacred parts of ourselves. Yes there is a rush in new love, new lust. I used to be addicted to it, and then I started to grow up a bit. I left someone I was in a very serious relationship with to be with Adam, after feeling that breathless spark with him, accompanied by an almost primal urge, a strange "knowing". Yet for a while, I was still insecure, very fearful that I had left something so solid and good for something that might turn out to fizzle. Yet it turned out to be the most serious, deep and passionate relationship of my life, and he turned out to be my husband. :)
We have our issues like any couple. But I wake up every morning knowing we are both committed to each other 100% and we can work through anything. That is a kick-ass feeling.
