how did you do with your list? i admire your productivity - i had lots of things i planned to do on my christmas vacation and i've done none of them. not a single one.
i did really well, i didn't get my eye appointment or get a call back on my carpet, and it's debatable on how much rest i got but overall, i feel pretty productive. now i need a day off from my days off.
oh yeah, i did get plenty of rest. that wasn't on my list because i knew i'd do that anyway. :P
actually i did do two things - went to the dentist for my 6-month checkup/cleaning, and (as a result of that checkup) made an appointment with an oral surgeon to get my one remaining wisdom tooth pulled. thank goodness it's the last one. i'd forgotten those because they were on the first day of my vacation.
Why does one get a carpet stretched? And where? And how much does a thing like that cost?
We've got an oriental upstairs that's bumpy and rolly as all get out - a tripping hazard, really - from being rolled and folded in half for a couple of years. You'd think that 3 years of laying flat on the ground would do the trick but it's still a mess.
one gets one's carpet stretched when one has a house built by a shitty contractor (capitol pacific) and even though one UPGRADED from "old boat" (i'm not kidding) carpet, to something two or three grades higher, the carpet is still grade D carpet. my carpet cleaners told me it's because they used one for every two staples when stapling it in, and also that my furniture is too heavy for the carpet (what.).
i wonder if you could steam out the oriental. not with a steam cleaner, i mean with a garment steamer.
Oh sure, offer that suggestion five days AFTER we donate the garment steamer to Goodwill. I see how you are. Hrmph.
Dare I ask how much a company charges to stretch carpet? (I'm almost thinking it might be about the same cost to get B- grade carpet from Lowe's installed brand new!)
now tres's roomate says he can do it so he'll do it for free but the going rate is like fifty bucks. it takes ten minutes, all they have to do is just get three guys to pull the hell out of the carpet and then re-staple it.
yeah, i know, right? my grandparents (both deceased) started one when i was born, then my aunt gave me one when i was five (the one i want to cash in), then i have the one my parents took out on me, and then the one through ann taylor. hell if i can have a couple grand in my pocket, and i don't have kids or a spouse, what's the diff?
