Mmmmm, them's some tasty-looking dead animals! NICE DUCK! ...I can't remember, has she caught a duck before?

Nope, that's a first for both of us! A mallard, too, which I didn't even think possible considering how big and fast they are. We were out looking for slow ducks like shovelers, hiking along a brushy ditch out in the rice fields, but we came around a corner and there were two mallards on the bank instead of in the water. The drake took off but the hen didn't have time to get in the air before Pele grabbed her. Season highlight, right there, man.

Manda's coming to visit in a week. I'm thinking duck tacos one night.

I know right? I mean it's basically like beef so that sounds pretty perfect to me.

Clearly you need to come visit me sometime. I just... kestrels were great fun but a bird that provides you with actual food is kind of amazing.
