Nino (our cat) is locked up at night, but he's a damn mischievous piece of work, let me tell you. He is a MASTER of that look that you get when he's done something wrong, and he knows it. He heads for the hills, usually, and finds cover under some piece of furniture he inherently understands will be too large for me to move quickly enough to simultaneously grab the little digger and heave him into "cat jail" (an impenetrable cat-carrier that is a priceless piece of cat-training furniture).
Nino's favourite thing to do is to meow at the study window, which adjoins our bedroom, for an hour at a time, whilst scratching on the glass. Makes a lot of noise, that. And he's persistent. But I realised recently that he's sitting on a piece of furniture in his room. Furniture moved = no more scratching. Peace at last. I can deal with the meowing, but the scratching was seriously going to imperil his life.
