I have been re-watching Haven from the beginning and have
some questions that I can’t seem to find an answer for. If anyone has an opinion…please share your
thoughts!:) Haven is one of my favorite tv shows lately.
I have been trying to read about idiopathic neuropathy which Nathan said he has. There does not appear to be much on the illness since no one has any idea what causes it. Of course Haven is Haven so we know it is
from the Troubles. But in the real world, no such luck. From what I can find, millions of people have some form of this affliction, but no known cause.
The tv show has not gone into much detail as to what Nathan can and cannot do because of his affliction. We know he cannot feel pain. In the first episode, he jokingly said that he could feel a headache coming on,
but can he really feel headaches? What of stomach aches? We know he couldn’t feel his hand slammed in a car door or feel when he is shot. Can he feel when he is hungry or tired? Or does he eat at a set time or when others around him do? And sleep when he can find time?
When discussing Nathan being injured and him being able to feel Audrey. When Audrey is touching him, is Nathan able to feel injuries in that particular area? For example, let’s say he was shot in the shoulder and Audrey was trying to stop the bleeding and touched his skin, would he be able to feel the pain from the room? What if he had appendicitis? How would he know it was happening? Fever?
I was just on the Haven page of Syfy.com and there is a spoiler scene for the upcoming episode, Audrey’s Day Off. Great scene and I can’t wait to see the episode, but it doesn’t help with any answers.
While this is not an injury question, what do you think Nathan saw when he looked at the girl that people saw their scariest fear? I think perhaps it was the destruction of Haven or perhaps Audrey dying.
There are so many questions and so few answers. I do hope they address some of these things at some point! Until then, I will happily watch and think of more possibilities.
