Quick Trip to Chicago

Sep 20, 2006 13:55

Due to parental guilt, I spent last week in Chicago. It was all very rushed and much of the usual, so nothing really worth posting about. Highlight was all the good food; Letdown was the increased gentrification of my old neighbourhoods. There are two things that you should know though ( Read more... )

I'm sad I didn't get to see you! You should see if you can make your next visit last a little longer.... *grin*

Yeah, it's never long enough to see everyone on my list...

Also, thanks for your copy of Tempest! As you probably know, I was going to take Tish's, but she'd packed it already. I need the Arden version for teaching this term, but I'll bring it home for Christmas.

Um. This is news to me. I know nothing.

Apparently you have my copy of the Tempest? *grin*

That's cool. Just, y'know ... hilarious.

I wasn't sure if you knew or not! It was all a bit last minute. Hahahah. When you get it back, the book will be more well-travelled than you. Heh.

Oh yeah! Lots of Mexican food and (southern) Italian food. And yeah, I did feel sick more than once on that trip. Heh.

There were two bad bits of turbulance and, yeah, it was very very scary. It made me really understand why so many people have a fear of flying.

*hates you* mmmmm Mexican food..... *does homer drool at you* :P

I think I could very easily have a fear of flying even though I grew up flying in the small planes. If I ever run into turbulance like that I think that fear might just get the better of me.

Glad you made it back safe and sound though!

I had the same experience with evil turbulence on my way back from Hawaii. I had been sleeping and was woken up in a blender. God it was scary, and I was on edge for the rest of the flight! Unlike you this happened just after we left North America and just got over the Atlantic. I suppose one good thing about your experience is that if it occurred over Ireland it wasn't long before you landed!

The worst of it was over Ireland, but we hit a nasty bit pretty early on in the flight when we got over Canada so I was a bit on edge the whole time, really. Still not as long as your flight though, so I guess that's one thing to be thankful for!
