Year 2552. Planet Reach was supposed to be a stronghold against the Covenant Empire. Baekhyun did not want to go through hell again but it looks like the universe is breaking its promise.

Sword Base to Noble Team. Please respond. We are requesting immediate back-up, a serious threat has been detected inside the headquarters but we still haven’t identified if they are Insurrectionists or Covenant. Multiple casualties and counting. Please send help. Over.
“This is Noble One. We are approximately 100 kilometers from Sword Base. How many percentage of the base is infiltrated? I want to know how big we’re going to be dealing with. Over.” A tall man clad in a helmet-less blue armor said through the speakers.
“Commander Kris,” the member in charge of Intelligence, Luhan, interrupted when he lost the signal to base. “They’re gone.”
Inside the spacious aircraft Pelican, six highly respected Spartans aren’t exactly surprised to hear the news about Sword Base. They’ve subdued a rather large group of Covenant forces interfering with a relay outpost in Visegrad a few weeks ago and they all had the gut feeling that it was just the beginning.
“Definitely Covenant. Insurrectionists don’t have the capabilities to invade an Office of Naval Intelligence.” One man, who goes by the tag N27 or simply Chanyeol as the team calls him, pointed out after a few seconds the transmission died.
“They must be using a Cloaking armor. That’s the only possible explanation ONI was invaded in the first place.” The sniper and recon specialist of the team, XiuMin, coolly added from the pilot’s seat.
Kris watches them all with a strict face but still visibly concerned. Sword Base is a notably valuable asset of the UNSC and if it goes down then Reach is on its way to utter defeat.
“We shouldn’t underestimate the Insurrectionists. Nothing’s confirmed yet so we better stay alert until we touchdown.” They all followed suit as Kris put on his helmet. With their Pelican, they could easily cover the gap between their current location and the headquarters. It won’t take long until they land.
“I need someone to head to the central operating room. If we can’t contact base, there must something jamming it. I need it deactivated and-“
“I’ll go. I’m better off by myself anyway.” A voice shot out from the farthest section of the vehicle.
Their heads turned to the direction of the voice’s owner. “Kai…”
“You guys work the best as five. Sending a newbie like me shouldn’t be a problem.” Kai continued in a tone like it didn’t matter. He wasn’t saying this out of bitterness about being a rookie in the team nor it is hatred. That would be childish of him.
He liked doing things alone earning the nickname lone wolf from other soldiers. Kai is confident enough that he can what is required of him without any help.
The atmosphere turned tense and everyone could feel it. Kris walked and stood in front of the younger Spartan. “I remember telling you on the first day we met that we are a team, Lieutenant. If you want to play hero on your own then so be it but right now Reach is engaged in a battle we can’t afford to lose.”
The remaining 4 other people were sure that if it weren’t for their armors, their leader would’ve tightly grabbed the lieutenant’s non-existent collar. Their weapon specialist, Tao-M05, was already prepared in one corner to intercept any blows they might throw. Out of everyone, surprisingly, he is a peace-loving lad.
“We are a team so we will operate as a team. Leave your lone wolf stuff behind. That’s an order, Lieutenant.”
At that situation, Kai had only one option and he would be crazy if he didn’t take it. It took him about 5 seconds before he finally had the guts to respond properly to his order.
Noble Team then resumed their strategy meeting and appointed the missions based on everyone’s skills.
Kris and Xiumin would lead the evacuation of the remaining workers in Sword Base while Chanyeol and Tao join the fight of the UNSC Army to push the Covenant forces back. Lastly, Kai is joined by Luhan to his mission to locate the Signal Jammer.
Only a few kilometres away and they can see the towering architecture of Sword Base. In truth, the Spartans only have a vague idea of what will be waiting for them but they don’t have to worry about that once they arrive and see for themselves.
