Why do we do things we do?

Why do we do things we do? Hmmm. Could it be environment, predestination, or can we determine our own destiny?

Pondering the deep are we? sailormom February 28 2005, 14:41:13 UTC
I do not include the environment as it's own factor because you can choose to leave that environment, or when you are a small child, you were meant to have the parents you got.I believe there are things we are meant for/meant to do. I also believe that we can screw this up by choosing the wrong path. So there you go. It's a little of both.
Was there peyote involved in this pondering?

You move out to Texas and start smoking pot. That sounds like a post Henley might have put up...

Sorry, no sorry ass excuses like predestination and environment allowed. We make our own choices, for better or worse. I can name a few top choices I made that have changed the direction of my life completely.....but I could have chosen other paths. Its the beauty of free will.

Personally, I believe that we are a product of our environment. What is free will if we do not know how to exercise that right or know the defintion? We may feel it, but does it explain the difference between what is right or what is wrong?
