Livejournal is a blog, and it's no different from any other blog except a lot of blogs outside of LJ don't have flist, but they do have what is called a blogroll which are links to other blogs.

If you want to start one up, you can go to these site:

http://www.blogger.com

Now if you want to get your own domain to start your own blog, then you can use the following:

http://www.wordpress.org
http://www.movabletype.org

Here are some well known blogs ;D:

http://www.asmallvictory.net
