It's Becoming Tempting....

I really think that if I could secure the funding for the program, I think it would be a great opportunity to attend the SetFocus Master's Program C# track. I've been doing a lot of research. No doubt C#, SQL Server, .NET, and a bunch of acronyms like ADO.NET and ASP.NET are hot. I believe that .NET now runs on Linux, certainly C# has been ported ( Read more... )

Things to think about... drumzspace February 17 2004, 13:07:48 UTC
I don't know what's up with ASP.NET and how it's different from "regular" ASP...or what the hell C# is about. Microsoft will hopefully settle on these standards and not muck about with them in the next couple of years to give us techies a chance to not only develop these skills but really mature with the language. I do know that the syntax really isn't that much different between the likes of Perl, PHP, and ASP. I need to bone up on some XML and look into ASP.NET, because if I can just build on my current ASP skills, then that would be really nice.

I know that if you need to spend $$ on re-training for a new job, then a lot of that cash is tax deductable, so definitely keep records of how much you spend and itemize EVERYTHING. I'll be interested to hear about what you think of SetFocus.

Ha ha. SetFocus. I get it.

Then you know more than I do. I don't even know what XML is yet. .NET seems like a Java virtual machine to me.

I called Lerch last week. He works with .NET, as does Yogi. HE gave me some good info.

As far as I can tell, C# is a spin-off of Java. It's an OOP language. It did see a fragement of C# code somewhere, and it looked similar to Java, or at least I thought.

I did not know that re-training $$$ were tax deductible. Thank you very much for that tip !!!

The C# compiler is only $99. I might pick that up soon...

I shall give you my thoughts on the SetFocus seminar this Thursday. Some big .NET hotshot is supposed to be there, and then you get a presentation on the program.

It's powerful, albeit a little "clunky", imho...
