Yesterday I attended Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert at Six Flags Great Adventure. I am happy to say that over 2 million USD was raised to make sure that the children of slain soldiers will have a college education. A record was also set at Six Flags Great Adventure for tickets sold for an event (over 12,000 methinks).
I wasn't going to go at first, because I had nobody to go with. But I decided that I just HAD to go.
I got a late start, so once again got to the park late (12:30'ish). I decided that it would be a long day and a long and late ride home (2 hours +) so I took it easy with the coasters. I only had to wait 10 minutes for "Nitro". I am convinced that ride is probably what it feels like to be thrown off a building.
I also rode "The Great American Scream Machine". Once again I walked right onto this ride. I do not understand why nobody rides this anymore. It blows away the flying coaster "Superman: Ultimate Flight".
At 3 PM. I watched Sean Hannity do his radio show. I got to see Mark Levin, Curtis Sliwa, and Colonel Oliver North. The highlight was watching Ted Nugent debate Flipper... when Flipper said that nobody should eat meat because it's murdering animals and animals have rights, The Nuge simply replied "Animals have the right to garlic and butter." Classic!!!
I watched 2/3rd of the broadcast, then tried to do some light rides. I got on line for the log flume; the line into the Freedom concert proper was non-existent. 20 minutes later I later found out it was over a 1/2 mile long!!! I rode on the log flume with a very hot older woman in a tight skimpy white dress (no bra and boobs hanging out), so I had a huge grin when we got off and she was soaked!!!
I was pissed without for not queing up for the concert earlier, but it worked out great. I was on the right side of the stage, and was actually pretty close and wasn't blasted by the PA.
Darrely Worley put on a decent show. He started playing "Cat Scratch Fever" and started to sing it REALLY BADLY. But this just set up the scenario for The Nuge to come out and sing and play it. I was a little surprised, because it WAS a family event. But Nugent sang "Cat Scratch Fever..... Scratch that Beaver". LOL.
The Nuge then joined Darrel for "Have You Forgotten?" That tune chokes me up each time I hear it. It was nice to see all the American flags come out during that tune, and everyone standed for it.
Ted then played the National Anthem. I didn't care for the wah-wah peddle. IT just made it soundlike some hippie stoner tune.
Sean then came out and opened up "Hannity and Colmes". Either before or after, Danny Aiello came out and sang a tune, and let it be known that he is a proud Conservative, and that not EVERYONE in Hollywood is a bleeding heart liberal.
Martina put on a HELL of a show. She has lungs. I am not a country fan, but I enjoed her show as much as I can enjoy things right now (because of depression).
It was nice to be in a place where people actually LOVE their country. All the performers had the basic message that life is tough, not fair, but we live in a country where you can be what you want to be if you work hard. That was a nice contrast to the uninformed, narcisstic, pompous elitists like Bono, Sting, Mecha-Streisand who run their mouths off and dwell on what is wrong with America and lament the fact that their pet socialist program doesn't exist.
I can't count the number of times I heard the word GOD mentioned during the show and radio broadcast... it was nice. Though I am sure that an ACLU law suit is in the works.
It was a good day, and I proud to be a conservative. The day fired me up to make sure that Kerry does NOT become the President-elect of the United States of France.
