But Tipsy,

People were stuck in traffic for more than two hours here. People were stuck on TheBus for 4-7 hours. A friend of mine left town 7:30pm and got home in Pearl City at 1:30am. Another girl I know, never even made it home.

I do think that some of the stuff people are saying is overly repetitive and meaningless, but I do not the traffic jam here on that day can compare to anywhere else in the archipelago. But, extremely heavy traffic is a more normal thing in other parts of Hawai'i, even in the Wai'anae area where there is literally only one way in and one way out.

last year's fire i was stuck in traffic out of lahaina for an hour, going home for 2 hours plus the hour to drive home. i was pregnant at the time mind you. luckily my bladder was agreeing with me that day.

it took me 2 hours to get home last friday. my best friend sat in traffic for 3 hours then another to drive home.

seems like the west side residents of both our islands have it tough. we learn to deal with it though.

but sympathy for those that choose to sit in the traffic? none. those that got stuck in it and couldnt turn around, maybe but not those that choose to sit there.

only maui people, though, call police dispatch to complain about the traffic and for traffic updates. it's ridiculous.

and ANOTHER THING ...

we dont have mass transit here. we HAVE to drive our own cars. Maui Bus? ha! not enough not alleviate the traffic.

i wish we had a bus system here. although, i guess if i caught it to work in wailuku it'd be like riding from makaha to town. hmm. guess i'd still drive.

But isn't that how us Oahuans are? I don't know... but I notice that it's been like that for years. The local news is Oahu based. The traffic reports are Oahu based. Oahu Oahu Oahu. Thats all we really hear about. It also seems as though the problems are Oahu are somehow more important than on other islands. Not just compared to Maui but also to the Big Island too.

I noticed the letters to the editor too. Geez. So many letters about the traffic on Oahu.

It reminds me of when I commented about the news while in Nanakuli as my cousins watched the news. They had a graphical map of OAHU and they had stupid graphics coming out everytime they mentioned where the event was. LIke they'd say "...in nanakuli..." and then they'll show a triangle or something on the map of Oahu pointing out Nanakuli then it moves and zooms in or whatever and then they show the footage. They did that for every fucking place and it was sooo fucking annoying! lol
