So. The trip was interesting. It's all very messy. We went to Sukhothai, and also Sakon Nakon (with possible h's), but most of the time we stayed in Bangkok in a neat little apartment building next to a hospital. Some bad things that happened:
Bangkok traffic. Always awful. I tend to feel nauseous if I'm in a car for over five-ten minutes, and the almost constant traffic jams mean that it takes thirty minutes to an hour to get to something only a short distance away. So I stayed inside when I could.
The plane trip there was awful because I was on my period, so my uterus was all "whoo i hate you", and the medicine wasn't working for whatever reason. And plane trips in general are beginning to get annoying. I feel nauseous for a long time afterwards. :\
Some asshats decided to plant bombs around Bangkok on New Year's Eve, but luckily they were only small ones.
The night we left for the airport to come back home, Dad was taking our bags down from our room in the sixth floor when he noticed all of the people downstairs. When he came back up he told mother, Pi Moo and I that apparently there'd been some kind of intruder. So we went downstairs, and it turns out that a man that had come into the apartment building before had returned (possibly armed with a gun as it was hinted that he had one, and also something that was capable of destroying locks) and had broken into the apartment of the owner of the building. He locked her into her bathroom and stole her belongings, then went on to break into another three apartments at least. (This was what they told us when we came down - since we were in the process of leaving, we never found out what happened in the end.) The owner of the building threw things down from her bathroom window to get the attention of others, and so they called the police because it was thought that the man was still in the building. It was a tad eerie when we left, because there were police positioned all around the building and inside as well, and the occupants who were downstairs were all milling around armed with brooms and baseball bats and things like that.
Again, my relatives kept on insinuating that I was anorexic. =_= That was really very annoying. But I strived not to come into contact with the ones that were most irritating, at least.
Good things that happened:
I saw some nice relatives, like Pi Pat, who cooks the most deliiicious pad thai. It had really sumptuous, thick bean sprouts and lovely omelette and tofu and numm.
I saw some awesome people again, like Dominique and Joy and their three kids (Arlyn, Dana and Celila), and...um. Those two people that used to play badminton with us when all the Thais in our group plus a few caucasians played at UWA. And their two sons. They gave me some kind of black pearl thing, which was very sweet.
My parents went to the area wellknown for computer equipment to get mother a Thai keyboard so that we won't have to keep using stickers with the Thai alphabet on, and they also ended up bringing back a Wacom tablet as a kind of Christmas/birthday mixture. It's good that we bought it in Thailand because it's over one hundred dollars cheaper there when compared to the price of the EXACT same item in Australia.
I got to eat delicious food, such as milk tablets and vanilla and coffee buns and Peking duck and strawberry chocolate things and TONS AND TONS OF MEAT NOODLE SOUPS WITH LOTS OF VEGETABLES. Seriously. I love meat noodle soups with tons of vegetables. D: AND IT'S ONLY FOR LIKE A DOLLAR. WAH. Now I'm back in Australia and it's like fifteen dollars for a decent meal. Lameeeee.
There were these two ADORABLE little grey poodles at the apartment building, they looked like little stuffed animals with their woolly coats and black button noses and round black eyes. <3 But they were very shy. And they didn't want to get their picture taken. D: They were like twins, and omigod I luff them so much. T_T
Anddd there was lots of other stuff like all the hot people I saw, and the row of legs sticking out of the ceiling at the shopping mall (they were automated to flail and swing in unison...I think), and tons and tons of stationery and books bought. D:
ALSO
My birthday's coming up. 8D I think I'll just do what I did last year. It was easy. And cheap, comparatively!
