This was the first real big research project I gave the kids. They are really taking to it. Sophomores are researching Art of the Industrial Revolution and my Freshmen are researching different Mesoamerican archaeological sites. All of them are putting together presentations for the peers. what they don't know yet is that I will be quizing them ( Read more... )

haha. you should test really basic things, like the main point of each presentation. you know they won't be paying close attention.

Quizzing them is the only way to ensure that they pay attention. When I did a similar project, I required all the kids to run in a 1-2 page outline. I then took those and made packets that I gave to every student. Those then formed their study guide for the unit and I quizzed right off the outlines. It was a great way to handle the Constitutional Convention and it gave them a lot more responsibility for studying and providing a good comprehensive study guide for their peers.
