While usually I would tell you to defer to Flannery O'Connor's advice, in this case I am not sure what she is telling you to do or not to do.

she wrote a piece that advises the writer not to know where the story's going. she says that the ending should be a surprise for the reader and for the writer.

cutes and i are both well. we just had our 14 monthaversary. it's great. michigan and maine both begin with m and both are very cold. just throwing it out there.

That's usually the case for me. I always try to plan it out ahead of time, but in the course of writing the middle the end usually changes.

Congratulations! Unfortunately, Michigan and Maine are not quite so similar in other aspects.
