awake

Everyone else is asleep.  I sit here looking at two pieces of crocheted work that are both almost done, and rather than finish either, I want to begin another.  Perhaps since it's after midnight and we have a four hour cookie booth with Daisy Scouts tomorrow, I should get some rest.  I feel so much more safe here than on FB.  I still like FB,  but ( Read more... )

I find my voice changing depending on where I'm writing. I am the most transparent on LJ, which I have been writing on for about 6 years. I am the most opaque on my alternate FB page which I set up to avoid parental interference. I'm about halfway between the two on my NerdyCellist FB page, mostly because I'm very careful who I friend. But luckily I don't have a lot of friends-of-friends (or parents of kids friends) whom I feel obligated to friend, so it's a lot less complicated for me.

The pace and sense of space is much slower and sedate than facebook. I don't have facebook, but I occasionally peek over J's shoulder and witness the barrage of quick one-liners, thumbs-up and game invites he gets. It's the difference between settlingin for hot cocoa or tea around a fireplace with a few friends you know well, vesus a loud party where you're expected to make the rounds and see *everybody* even if you don't really know them (cause they'll get offended if you don't friend them back) even if its just for a quick comment ( ... )
