The Chronicles are very good. I have read them several times now. Of course the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe has always been the most notable book and will remain so with the release of the movie, but all are good. CS Lewis works a lot into what he writes and these books are no exception. Though there is a lot of Christian underpinnings within the novels. Still, they're considered classics for adults and children alike.
I've actually just finished the first book. I actually became very interested in reading the Chronicles when I first learned that they had biblical undertones and Christian parallels. I saw many instances of them in The Magician's Nephew, though I suspect there will be far more in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. So far, it's fasinating.
Narnia is amazing, I've been wanting to get myself a box set for a while, just never quite been able to spend enough at one time to get a set I wanted...
There were, I think, about 3 or 4 different sets at Books-a-Million, though they didn't have the hardback edition that I had intended on getting. I think my set was $59 at original price, but I have one of those discount cards, so it was 10% off. It's the paperback collectors edition, with all the original color illustrations. The other sets had images from the movie rather than the original illustrations. At any rate, after I've finished the first book, I consider it well worth the money spent.
We should have lunch sometime, Ladd - I've actually been meaning to bring that up to you. I've been wanting to talk to someone that's devout in the Christian faith since I've been going back to church. Plus I haven't seen you in ages! ;)
