So, who else is planning to go to Worldcon this year (August 6-10 in Montreal)? The housing bureau opens on January 31st, so I'm interested in putting together some sort of hotel group with an eye to reducing costs. Two of the less-expensive options have suites of various kinds, though for the one that's closer to the convention center ( Read more... )

I'll likely go. I am thinking I may be able to get a room with some congery folks, but I'm not sure yet. I just emailed them about it. I'm not sure what kind of housing arrangements I'll need just yet.

*cheers*

I will be at Anticipation! I am sharing a room with cadhla, my friend Susan and akawil, but I'm not sure where yet. Perhaps we should coordinate.

Indeed!

Unfortunately, it looks I was wrong about the quads at the hostel -- they don't exist at the building that the con is actually using. And they have triples... but two of the three beds are singles, which isn't a very good deal at 57 CAD per bed. (They also have octuples, but all of the beds are singles, so still not a good deal.) The doubles (which actually have two double beds, but of which there are only a total of five) and singles (studios) are both 67 CAD per bed, which is about comparable to the cheaper actual hotels, though they do at least include some amount of kitchen.

That's too bad. Kitchen is nice, but double beds are probably going to help a lot. I suspect anything with a kitchen and double beds will go immediately.

What is your plan?

I think we are likely to just get a studio at the hostel -- it's not quite as cheap as the cheapest hotel would be with two other people, but we don't have two other people at the moment, and having a bit of kitchen will save money on food.
