I trust the LWV, too, and I've gotten good information from them in the past. But this year I can't seem to find anything on their website. I'm not sure if they just didn't bother with the local election, or if their website is just really poorly designed and I can't find it.

Oh thank you, I keep seeing the signs and forgetting them by the time I'm home.

I'm starting at http://www.imagineelection.com/

Hm, it looks like it's a purely city election and the only contested race in my ward is that we can only vote for 4 of the 5 alderman-at-large candidates.

On the basis of the info here:

I am tentatively pro-Morales and anti-Desmond on the grounds that Desmond is a slacker who doesn't answer questionnaires. Will continue to research.

More questionnaires at http://somervillecdc.org/SCCNews/news.html#candidates

As far as I can tell, the pressing local issues include "how hard can we shake down IKEA" and "we like affordable housing but we'd also like some tax revenue, um, darn."

Does anyone know if Morales is targeting a specific incumbent or just trying to get in there?

also, I found this, but I can't tell if he stands for much other than not liking the new parking meter rules, which I just don't feel very strongly about:

Here, it's just a ballot initiative about raising property city taxes to fund schools. I don't live in the city but I do live in the city's school district, so it isn't even clear whether this affects me, and whether it'll actually be on my ballot. The schools here are already excellent and well-funded, and everything else about the state is not; people are unemployed and foreclosing left and right. So while I'm generally all in favor of raising taxes to fund schools, there are some extenuating circumstances here, and I can't find enough information to make an educated decision, so I'm not bothering.

Also, US citizens, not US residents.

::checks ballot:: I don't have to vote on whether to amend the Constitution! WTF?

I have two uncontested races for local offices and five city propositions: one to do something complicated to the budget cycle, one to allow members of the Board of Supervisors to have more than two aides, one to allow the city to sell naming rights to the new Candlestick Park, one to allow billboards on a specific two-block section of Market Street, and one to prohibit additional advertising on city-owned property.

I could take the time needed to research these issues, but I think I'm going to be a bad citizen instead.

As far as I can tell, there are no elections being held today in the state of Nevada.
