The Long And Winding Road

Plan for the weekend - Fittings with Alex, Pages Last Sci-Fi night, crash on Alex' sofa, home with girls on Sunday.

Fittings went well. The DareDevil outfit is starting to look really good, and with a few hours more work the Enterprise mk2 suit will look brilliant. The new pattern definitely works much better.

Pages last night was really good. I felt myself again, genuinely happy and like I wasn't looking over my shoulder. I had a really social evening which I spent talking Trek, the universe & everything with various people. I like talking to different people. A group of friends is a great thing, except when any outsiders are effectively banned. So I was being happy, and friends were buying me drinks - Taz tried to get me happy-drunk again - and was having a really good evening.

The only minor black spot was when Andy tried to punch me. I'm sure he'll find a way that makes it my fault, but he smacked into me deliberately - a trick he used to pull when we were together - so I said he could try 'excuse me.' It's another one of those things that I didn't put up with when we were dating and I see no point to start now we're not.
At no point did I deliberately go and provoke him. I asked a couple of people to check I hadn't been.
Either way, Andy yelled at me that I should leave because I had no friends (a fact disputed by the many people I talked to last night), then went for me and was told that if he hit me I would have him arrested. Very simple. Taz got between us and told him to back off, John appeared over my shoulder. I didn't move since I've been intimidated by that kind of behaviour before and decided to stop. Dario finally held his arms behind his back and took him out of the bar. He tried it again later and the same thing happened so he left.

I think he thinks that everything I do, everyone I talk to is done specifically to get at him. A personal attack in every movement. He's not that important anymore, and after last night's performance he's beyond pity, contempt or anger. However he justifies it or tries to blame me, there is no excuse for a man hitting a woman in anger. Someone reckoned he was just spoiling for a fight so created the situation to give him the excuse. Given how well I know him that's pretty much Andy-type behaviour.

After he was removed I went back to being a social butterfly in a Mirror Mirror uniform, chatted with a wheelchaired bloke I've seen around before who really liked the uniform, so he now has a photo of me sat with him on arm of said chair. I was giving my Marlena Monroe style a shot so lounged. He appeared to be a having a great time since every time I leant down to talk to him (it was loud!) he could stare down my top.

The Mirror, Mirror & Enterprise uniforms (I made both of the good ones there that night) were all very popular, so a lot of details were handed out on the strength of those. This is a very good thing, and a friend of Steve's was interested in some of the other work I can do.

I introduced Alex & one of his Transformers board friends to a guy who had a transformers logo on one arm and who was getting a giant Optimus Prime tattooed over his shoulder. We didn't talk much at the bar - touched base on and off - since we did most of that in the car there and back. And sang songs loudly and badly.

I haven't seen Pages packed like that in months, possibly years. It was absolutely heaving, since the world & his wife had shown up. Taz & John were great to giggle with all evening, Big Steve showed up but I forgot to get his measurements for things. Jenny and Brian were quite bouncy, so I spent some time chatting with them. Jenny had a really cutesy camouflage top & skirt which was quite funky, since her wedding dress (TOS uniform I made her, in stretchy fabric) doesn't fit her right at the moment. She was quite miffed at this so claims that the diet starts Monday so she'll look fab as Dot Matrix on Friday night at Wolf 10th. Have roller boots on way for that! Mwuhahahahaha.......

Other news... I got my car! Dad decided I needed a car to re-learn to drive in, so the search was on. Its been 2 weeks but we found a deep purple '97 Micra that has now been called The People Eater. It arrived yesterday after I left. When Liz found out about the name she said "Is that because you can get lots of people in it, or because you can mow them down quite spectacularly?" causing me and my parents to giggle lots on and off for the next half hour.
It is an extremely cool little car, which will soon have an extremely cool sound system to go in it. Alex has a funky bass thing in his car with a 'loud' button, so I'm currently gunning for one of those. It'll definitely be able to do a run up to wherever Sean announces his next 'out of London' con, or anywhere else for that matter. My car rules.

Rest of the day was spent travelling, snoozing, bbq-ing, talking with D&J, and treating the dog when he got stung on his paw by a sodding wasp. Jam traps have been administered. The little bastards can sting me (despite allergies) and that's one thing. My Dog is off limits.

I asked my Dad if I could give the car a giant horn for the roof but he won't let me. Rumph. Maybe a little one on it's nose...
