To my friends on LJ: I grew up reading my dad's correspondence with Pope John Paul and his Vatican. They exchanged thoughts. I am giving serious thought to publicly publishing those letters. No, not for profit. Just that he died last year; churches are being destroyed & locked up in the city he was raised in & loved;, so whose church is next? Yes, ( Read more... )

I've no clue, but it will an interesting thing to follow, I'm thinking. And I know you're not doing this for profit, but if there's a way to make them public and to profit a little from it, I don't see that as a bad thing.

Neko, Luv, check out the posts that viridian5 put up. I have commented on her posts. Strangely enough I have given thought to posting those writings here as I really do think that the people reading them will see them in their true state before some clown alters them. Am also interested in finding a publisher who is willing to publish them untouched. Suggestions? All monies will be donated.

You know, one day I'd love to buy a church and convert it into a house. I've seen several that have such beautiful architecture and everything, and I'd just have it de-sanctified and live in it as if it were a huge loft apartment to maintain a lot of the internal features, too. They're too gorgeous to be turned down, so I never complain when they convert them to other buildings (they're doing that a lot here in Pittsburgh now, making them into clubs or restaurants and the such, keeping much of the building intact).

I wish I could offer a suggestion.

I think sharing the uncensored (I read your response to nekojita) correspondence is a wonderful idea.

I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with the letters being made public (well, maybe anyone outside the Church's PTB).

If for no other reason, the correspondence is very historically significant.

Best of luck to you if you decide to make them public. They sound very interesting and personally it'd be something I'd want to see.
