I finally got the nurse on the phone, and everything is ok. There were some atypical cells, but for me that's pretty normal. They want to check me out again in 3 months, so I get to do it all again in February

Such is the life cycle of the doctor's office. I recently had a similar problem with my dentist. For several years, she had an assistant, who I really liked. She was fun and always joking, and just made teeth cleaning a pleasant experience. Then, one time, she was a gone, and a new, rather sour assistant was in her place. That woman was HORRID. Luckily, she's gone now.
It definitely helps to tell your doctor if you're displeased with a member of their staff. Obviously, they're not going to just fire the person on the spot, but if they have several complaints, it's more likely to happen eventually!

I raised holy hell with our pediatrician over how SWMBO was dealt with by a nurse at the office who was less than correct in her communication style. "The doctor hasn't told me what to tell you yet" is Never Good To Say.
I would make a point of discussing what happened with your doc.
