RBF probably stole the bassline from themselves...I've heard tons of their songs that were based around I ii IV V progressions. Probably more than any other progression, in fact.

it wasn't just the chord progression, it was the exact same timing and notes. i was literally singing "buttrinkos against bush" to myself over it, as it was just some between song interlude thing that aaron and scott were talking over.

Which RBF song?

And yeah, they rip off stuff all the time. Apparently "Suckers" is a dead copy of some old song. At least it generally ends up okay, though. Unless it's on their newest album. Man, that sucks.

as i said in reply to lex, it wasn't a real song, it was just an instrumental bit between songs. but it was the exact same bassline.

john vanderslice asked me once if i was in line for the restroom.
it was a men's restroom. and me, not being a man, said, "..well.....no"
he said "oh! right!"
and i thought wow, that was john vanderslice, wasn't it

yeah, it's actually a mountain goats show, but it's the mountain goats (John Darnielle and Peter Hughes) being backed up by jv and his band. the exact same lineup as the encore of the show from last tour where jv was opening.
