The girls are marathoning LOTR as prep before watching The Hobbit sometime this break. I've tried to get them to watch the bass/rankin animated movie because I grew up on it really. They only got through 1 & 2 yesterday and what with school/dance/finals they probably won't get to the third one til the weekend. ^_^

I must confess that I didn't know that an animated version existed.

When I was younger (because I refuse to consider myself anything but young XD), we only got 4 tv channels, and on top of that, they weren't that original. I think Mary Poppins and ET were shown every single xmas holidays!

What i remember on tv every holiday time was The Sound of Music. Like the season was not complete without that showing.

The animated version of the Hobbit is quite good actually and true to the book really.

I love that animated version! It made me want to read the books and after I went through all three, I realised that that animated movie was so CLOSE to the book, I kept watching and rewatching it. Perfect! Actually wore through one video tape and had to have another copy made.

I was actually quite disappointed with Legolas' character design in the movies because OB just wasn't willowy enough hahahhaa!

I love the animated version , when I was a child it would scare me yet fascinate me at the same time. It's up there with The Flight of Dragons in my childhood memories.
