Writing

I've really missed writing lately. I had several writing projects I wanted to do this summer while school was out but my bum wrist has hampered that. I've recently progressed far enough that I can sort of type almost normally - just can't reach certain keys and have to hunt/peck them. But it is way better than before. So I began a story for the ( Read more... )

Yeah, you're right - that might do it. That would probably be as traumatic as losing an arm or leg to him.

Thanks, kiddo. And thanks for the beta job!!

So good to hear your arm is improving. Everyday tasks we take for granted become so much harder when you have to do them one-handed. I'm really pleased you have some story ideas. I can't wait to read it! :)

Thank you so much. Yeah, I have a whole new appreciation for having two hands and hope I can get back to that soon.

It's amazing the things you do every day that are so simple until you lose your dominant hand. It still kind of frustrates me at how long some things take to do or that I just can't do them at all. I put some ice and drinks in a cooler this past weekend for an outing and then couldn't lift the cooler with one hand. I didn't even think until it was loaded and too late. Had to wait for help. I can do a few things with my right hand, but no heavy lifting yet and nothing that requires your wrist to twist. But I'm getting there. Maybe I'll learn a little patience along the way (LOL).

Thanks, that's sweet. It's terrible the way life has a way of sucking you dry and not leaving much behind sometimes. Wonder if there's any relation to the Wraith? Maybe we'll both get back on track soon!! Been missing you guys something awful. I mean I was here, but not really HERE, if you know what I mean.

You are a trooper to rise to the moment, while being whumped yourself, hunting and pecking your way to whump dear John Sheppard. ;) I'm glad you have finally seen some improvement in your arm and wrist, and I hope your healing continues to improve in leaps and bounds. I'm sure I echo what many others feel when I say we want you back in action and able to express all you want in writing as quickly and efficiently as you want (pain-free, of course). I love your writing and am so looking forward to more of it!

Wow, thanks. I posted to try to get myself moving again and get back in contact with you guys and it's reaping benefits beyond expectation. Just talking with you guys and getting all the encouragement is helping more than ten therapy sessions (just don't tell my OT guy I said that). I have several ideas and am trying to figure which one to tackle next - all short ones for now til I get back on my feet . . . er, my hands.

You should think of picking up Dragon (software) you can train it so you can dictate and it will type for you. I have problems with my wrists as well so I have picked it up but not installed it yet. "HUGS"

I would hate to miss any of your writing.

I thought about buying that right after I broke my wrist. I wasn't sure how well it worked and I figured I'd be back in action in 6-8 weeks so I didn't get it. If only I'd known then how long it would really be. Yeah, I'm thinking for nine months plus it would have been worth the money.

Let me know how it works. Typing is better now, but it is still slow and sort of painful and I don't last long, so it might still be worth the investment. Plus, after about 20 minutes, my shoulder freezes up and hurts and I have to stop.

I'm very sorry to hear you have wrist problems. I'm finding out that affects almost everything you do. I hope the software helps.
