Control Chamber: RobinGlaring at the man that had caused him so much grief and pain, Robin clenched his fists tighter. His masked gaze had only widened, his teeth visibly grinding like so many times before. Anger was boiling in him all over again, "No, I'm not like you," he snapped

-Take it all... if it'll keep you-- and your friends-- safe...- He thought back to her, squeezing her hand in return... this was more than he had hoped for, but he knew they were far from 'good'... -Call it pay back for hijacking your power before...-

-Thank you.-
She thought quickly, trying to keep most of her mind focused on the shield.

Silvestri closed his eyes and held tight to Raven's hand, focusing inward with her, feeding his strength, his mind, his life into her, giving her every scrap of power he possessed. It was like a tangible essence leaving him in a flood, but there was still more. And more. And more...
-As long as it holds... as long as we stop her... as long as we all get out of here. Together.- He could hear Terra screaming for help, the intesity of the tremors increasing exponentially, and he blocked it out, blocked it all out... the only thing in his mind was Raven, the shield, her friends... survival.
-Victory...-

-... not coming... not coming... he's... not... coming...- the words filtered through her mind, inbetween the memories that couldn't be, there was no way they could be real...
Except... they were. She could tell, on some deep, buried level, that they were her own. Her vision cleared enough for her to catch sight of the walls tumbling down around those who had been her friends... around Beast Boy...
"Master!" She cried one last time, her still cuffed wrist held out in front of her as though to ward off danger.
-He's not coming, Terra.- Katze's voice sounded in her mind, amplified by his contact with Raven. -He abandoned you... again. He didn't save you. They did.-Those words, and the truth behind them, wrenched a wordless cry from her lungs and she thrust her hand into the air... the light went out of her suddenly and she collapsed, the aftershocks quieting with conspicuous ease. A moment of stunned silence passed before all hell broke loose... her body lay amidst the rubble of the lair... and the rest was ready to ( ... )

"If only you knew how very alike we are, Robin..." Slade drawled, an edge of something akin to sadness in his tone... "Then perhaps you would understand."
Facing the monitors as he was, Slade knew exactly why the complex had begun to shudder... but he also knew that Robin did not... he let a slow triumphant smile that he did not truly feel creep across his mouth... and into his voice.
"Game." He took a step forward... "Set." Another... "Match!" He cried as he lunged forward, weakened, but still stronger than Robin could hope to be for sometime...

"No!" Robin cried, but belated in his attempt to move; Slade had already sprung forth. In a last-second (literally) effort, he twisted to the side just enough and rose his leg to drive it towards the man.

"Yes, Robin... even if you manage to... incapacitate me, you won't be able to leave this room, let alone the facility in time to save your friends. Surrender now, and I'll call off my apprentice."
It was a bluff... but it was one that Robin was susceptible to...

And Robin was falling for it.
He felt his shoulders begin to slump, or try to, and his once tightly gritting teeth fell into a frown. "How do I know you won't kill them anyway, Slade?" he growled.

Despite all the trick and strings...all the villainy, Robin couldn't quite recall a single lie that had parted from Slade. That didn't make it okay for him to agree...infact, he didn't want to. But there was no other alternative that he could clearly see, now.
It was him, or his friends. And his friends were the important part.
It was obvious when his decisions were made. His shoulders slowly slumped, and his gaze fell from the man for a moment, "As long as they make it out alive," he replied bitterly.

Which wasn't to say that they wouldn't be crushed by falling rocks or something else equally unpleasant...

Impulse found himself in a dark hall after phasing through a wall. He took in a short breath each time he felt the ground quake.
-not. good.-
The anxiety only intensified as he wandered through the darkness. He then turned a corner and spotted a security camera.
-where could you be hiding?-
Confidence restored, Impulse cocked his head and smirked at the camera. He knew who would be watching.
"You just wait."

His eyes widened as he watched with the others...
"It-- It's actually working?" He tried to keep the majority of his shock and incredulity from his voice, but it was a hopeless battle...

-It just has to hold till we can get away...-

-What is this... ?-
His mind flooded with icy numbness and he leaned against the nearest bit of wall, focussing on Raven's work in an effort to keep his eyes open...
-Adrenaline had to wear off eventually...-

"Hey, are you okay-"
He shielded his eyes, as a spray of rock and gravel tore through the space, an errant stream from Raven's unsteady manipulation of the earth.
