Nancy Drew Mystery #2 The Hidden Staircase

This is an early Nancy Drew book, which means there’s no George, Bess, Ned, Dave, or Burt. There’s only Helen who gets up getting married and because she is so dependent upon Jim, her husband, she doesn’t have time for Nancy’s silly mysteries anymore after The Mystery At Lilac Inn. This kind of struck a chord with me because my best friend got ( Read more... )

It's the 2nd book in the series.

I'm trying! Now that the holidays are over, I want to do more recaps.

I love your recaps so so so much! My favourite part: At the grocery store, she gets misty eyed, because groceries remind her of Carson because he “loves thick, juicy steaks.” WTF?!
And is it just me, or does it seem like Nancy and her friends always have dress-up parties in the middle of a mystery?

In this book they did it because they wanted to cheer her up. It's just like in Sweet Valley High, they make up any excuse to throw a party.

Seriously, keep writing the recaps! Especially these yellow cover ones. I check back daily, haha. Excellent. I don't feel quite so alone in the world anymore, knowing I can't be the only 38 year old on the planet who is still checking these out at the library to snark on!

Thanks!

My roommate is a librarian and I get her to check them out for me. Not because I'm embarrassed, but because she doesn't ever have to pay late fees and I can take as long as I want to read and recap.
