We're giving presentations this week (and next--they tend to take a while) in Arabic class. One person gave her presentation on an Iranian painter, Iman Maleki.

(Unfortunately, she didn't find much about him, so she spent the rest of her time showing a comedy sketch from Jeff Dunham about Achmed the Terrorist. I personally find it objectionable. Funny, yes, but it makes me feel dirty watching it. Another student on Monday did her presentation on Baghdad and showed a picture of Saddam Hussein some time shortly after he was captured, I think. At least, he looked pretty ragged still. He had on a white shirt, and somebody had photoshopped onto it the text "I invaded Kuwait and all I got was this stupid T-shirt" or something like that. I was also offended by that, as was the Saudi couple in the class. I don't think they really liked Achmed the Terrorist, either.)
Another person did her presentation about belly dancing, and I thought of
catblade.
I'm planning to do mine on the history of the Middle East. I figure that the bigger the scope of my presentation, the less I have to say. Right? Actually, I chose it because I realized I knew almost nothing about the history of that part of the world, so I might as well learn something in doing a presentation.
