Learning Bass

I've decided to try to learn how to play the bass. I've always wanted to, and have borrowed Mark's bass a couple times before but gave up before I started because it was too hard. I don't know how far I'll go with it this time around, but I'm really going to try to trudge through the beginner stage and stave off my frustrations because it's worth

If you don't want to learn on the vintage bass, I'd suggest getting yourself a beginner's combo - most places sell a crappy Squier Precision copy and a small practice amp for around $100.

I've actually heard decent reviews of the Squier P bass/J bass. I might go down that road at some point, but for now I just got a VOX headphone amp. I like it so far, and once I get a long enough 1/8" headphone cable I can plug in my ipod/computer etc and play along with stuff.
