I love you. You are ridiculous and wonderful, as well as a very talented writer.
Next time, ask for coffee in sign language. If he doesn't get it, point and grunt. He may think your deaf, and even racists can't ignore deaf people. Don't worry about him recognizing you- if he is as aloof and out of it as you say, he'll forget you. Or believe you've had a tragic accident involving a wedding and a grain of rice.
