Well, now I feel better about me!!

I just read a snippet on the internet that Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise's wife, just ran the New York marathon.  I was sooo happy to see that her time was 10 mins slower than mine...she may be rich beautiful and thin, but dammit I'm faster!!  And I was almost 20 years older than her when I ran it.  Not that either of our times is impressive, but ( Read more... )

What was your time? The one and only marathon I ever did was the St. Louis Marathon in 1985, and I came in around 4:30 hours. Slow as molasses, I know, but I finished the damn thing.

And as to my hockey situation, the American Midwest, where there is professional hockey, and now some local hockey teams in some cities, but not a women's league, and not at my advanced age anymore--nu-uh! I never was much on skates. ;(.

So you're Canadian! That makes sense. When I read your fan fic, I get the "feel" of an American writer (no offense) but was flummoxed by the British spellings ("behaviour"). Now, I see. Thanks for clarifying that little mystery for me.

Opps, hit the return key too soon!!! I was going to say that I got from point A to point B which was all I wanted to do. It was my mid-life crisis event for turning 40!! Unfortunately for me it was the last time I ever ran as all the weird things that I was attributing to overtraining turned out to be MS, but I am back on my feet again, back to work and have traded running for hockey. Oddly it is easier to skate as the surface is smooth and you aren't lifting up your feet the same way, plus it is cold in arenas which suits MS.

Yup, Canadian...never even thought about the 'british' spellings as confusing. Does this mean if you think my grammar is terrible I can just fool you into thinking it is some odd, esoteric Canadian rule that you don't know about??

Just askin'

Actually, as I read your work, I thought of you as someone at or close to my own age because your grammar is good. I see a deterioration, overall, in the grammatical usage of the young'uns, a phenomenon I attribute more to their failure to read for pleasure than to a lack of grammar training. Studies seem to support the idea that prescriptive grammar teaching does not necessarily transfer into students' own writing. But reading helps people see the grammar used well (or poorly), which does transfer. I'm betting that you have been a reader all your life, as I have been.

Well, you hit me where I live. Sorry to go on so.

TJ! <3

Long time no see...

I'm glad to see updates. :D

Is VJB moving to LJ or is LJ the new cell phone? - Everyone must have at least one, you never leave the house without [posting/checking for comments] and one can build/buy all sort of customizations for it... :P

Hey!! How are you?

I guess you have to 'keep up with the Jone's' in the technology/communications world. I'm just happy to see so many old friends both at VJB and LJ.

Keep in touch.
