Judy prompted: tell me about your latest happy moment and all the little details about it as well please~~~~~
My last happy moment. There are a few rare moments where I feel this sense of joy descend upon me. They’re rare but when they happen, it’s almost indescribable. I notice that my eyes open wider- normally I have a rather intense gaze that scrutinizes and analyzes. Secondly I find I smile for no reason. I hate my smile and most of the time it feels forced when I do smile. But watching Cookie Monster sing “C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me” just made me break out in this wave of joy. My eyes lifted, my gaze became unclouded, and I actually smiled without realizing it.
Originally I was searching for more titles to my posts, doing a google search with the term “C is for” for inspiration. The first youtube video that popped up under the video search was of Cookie Monster. I couldn’t resist it. Sesame Street, to me, is about the most perfect form of children’s television ever created. They somehow weave education and entertainment in an accessible and understandable way and yet still don’t treat the children like they’re idiots. Instead of latent condescension, they capture the power, innocence and wonder of youth. Too often adults view children as objects, and for all their bitching about “What about the children!” or “Family Values” they don’t give a shit about the child as a person.
Anyways, this is supposed to be happy, and not another Tom bitching session =p
I love Sesame Street. As a kid, I remember watching it every day, and it’s one of those things that I believe inspired in me a love for learning. Yeah, it can be corny, but it one of the rare educational shows that I remember that captured that zest and innocence that kids can understand easily. In fact, one of my favorite Christmas shows was theirs and I can still remember the way the show ended. I hope whenever I have children that I can share this with them, and it’s kind of weird, but it’s the one show that I’d have complete trust in as a “babysitter,” at least for an hour. =p
And then I started surfing the youtube. I found a rather a couple humorous interviews with Cookie Monster, and then one video of Cookie Monster as a special guest on Martha Stewart’s show. It kinda drove me down off my high. Martha is such a control freak, but to be fair, the guy puppetering Cookie Monster was making Cookie Monster act just short of a drug addict. Still, it had it’s moments.
Originally, the C post was going to be about World of Warcraft. Since I could make the last part “and the Crafting of War,” and the fact I spend at least four nights a week involved with it in some way. But the more I think about it, the more bored I get thinking of trying to talk about Warcraft. WoW is fun to play, but outside of the next expansion, I feel like I’ve thoroughly eviscerated the game for any sort of content, and have analyzed the entrails so completely that there’s just nothing left that’s interesting. I really should start playing GTA again and knock that one out. So, I think that’s just what I’m going to do.
So again, anything anyone would like to ask or throw out for inspiration, I would really appreciate it =)
