Why is it that people do the things they say they don't like to do?

Unfortunately, sometimes the things that we don't want to do are the means to an end. For example, I absolutely hate math, and yet, because I want to become a psychologist, I've volunteered for doing mathematical statistical work and I've taken math classes that I was not required to take. Because it helps me accomplish that goal.

I don't know what situation you're talking about, but sometimes I think that it's a gift to be able to do the things that you don't like to do. It's really easy to just say "I can't" or "I won't" or "I give up" just because you don't want to do something... but if the end is something that means something to you, then the ability to do what you don't like to do comes in handy and is admirable. In my opinion. My very humble opinion. In fact, I might be ranting at this point. I've been studying psychophysiology stuff... my brain is fried.
