The Long Awaited Vacation Update!

Sigh, this was entirely too much work. In order to the best of my abilities

All these things that spew steam everywhere have a terrible smell. Probably toxic, but whatev.

This is Castle geyser. I suppose it kinda resembles one, but clearly it has taken heavy artillery damage. That would explain the smoke.

Same dude from the other side, much more interesting terrain.

I don't remember the name of this one, but it was shooting water non-stop, often hitting the walkway due to the wind.

The Grotto was a cool one, as it had a really unique look to it.

Old Faithful

The picture for this one doesnt do it justice in the slightest. The colors are way more vibrant and there are more of them, see it in person if you can

I can't remember if this is the waterfall, but I stood at the top of one, which is where I took the next pic

I took this from the top of the waterfall. This was a fucking amazing view, and I feel the picture has kind of a surreal quality. But it is nothing compared to taking it all in at once, and its so fucking huge. Wow.

I liked the winding-ness of it

I think this is still Yellowstone. I like it because of the clouds covering up parts of the mountain. I suppose I was up pretty damn high, at that time... perhaps around 8000ft. or maybe more.

Why not?

Next stop was Craters of the Moon, which had a sea of old lava flows pretty much covering everything.

Plenty of diversity in the different shapes it cooled as

Ribbed for her pleasure.

Although my parents are seen here comming out, we ventured into some caves made by air pockets in the lava as it cooled. There are a crapload of these things lying around

The park didnt light these, so it was up to us to bring our own. Though I pretty much begged to bring a lantern, but my dad though that these incredibly shitty flashlights seen here would help us navigate complete and utter darkness. Yea, thanks asshole.

While I may have had a hard time seeing it, I certainly noticed the crapload of ice lining all sides of the cave (as seen here, courtesy of flash photography). From the pictures I managed to take, the inside of these caves were pretty damn interesting and cool. Its a shame that I couldnt see any of it in person (did I mention my dad is an idiot?)

This stunning view (much better in person) was taken on our way to glacier

This was taken on our way back from a 10 mile hike up a mountain

Same hike, great view

Also the same hike, and actually, the same mountains as the last one. They were just really nice to look at

Melting snow and ice and all that is responsible for carving out the mountains, which I suppose makes some soil out of the rock or something. Some damn cool forests take advantage

The next day we headed up to Logan's Pass. This is especially notable because Logan is the real name of Wolverine, an X-men favorite.

The majority of Logan's Pass was closed due to a shitload of snow.

They managed to clear the sidewalk leading to the visitor center... but on either side there were towers of snow taller than I. It was impressive.

A little lower down on Logan's Pass, but cool. Note there is less snow at lower elevations. Cool, huh?

Logan's Pass can be dangerous, but Snowy here had my back from day one. What a fucking pimp. I loved that guy, though he's probably dead by now. R.I.P.

Prime Moose territory. Too bad none showed up. Cowards.

After Glacier, we went to this beast. That would be Mount Rainier totally dwarfing everything.

There is a road that gos a good ways up the mountain, so we took that. Unfortunately there was still hiking to be done to see the good sites, and this is one of the results

Mt. St. Helens was next on our hit list. It's still quite active, as you can probably see from the smoke comming out from the top. Pretty crazy.

Redwood is home to some big trees.

No, seriously.

Rrrreeeeeaaaaallllyyyyyy big.

I just like this one

Lots of trees

The scary thing is, these things fall over left and right

Banana Slugs are all over the place... ok ok, I only included this because it looks like a penis. I'm pretty shallow that way.

New trees sprout almost immediately from already fallen trees

Besides trees, there was a whole canyon with nothing but ferns hanging off of every wall. It was really cool.

Redwood is right next to the ocean, so to the ocean I went.

Emerging from the ocean victorious!

Along the coast was sheer cliffs that caught the rolling fog brought in by the ocean.

We also checked out Crater Lake. Apparently the center island is called Wizard Island, which I found to be badass.

Wall along Crater Lake. The reflection is badass. Its a shame it was windy that day, as otherwise the water would be perfectly blue and even more reflective.

I wonder if this will manage to explode someone's comp. I would definetly be amused. Although, that would suck terribly if photobucket exploded or just mutilated my perfectly-sized images. Oh well, I suppose we will see.
