I'm probably very unoriginal with this, but my favourite character is Atticus. Not just because of his keen sense of fair-mindedness and justice, or his attitude about being good at shooting, but for those moments where you get a glimpse of him trying to raise his motherless kids. I love the interaction between him and Scout in particular. There's something beautifully observed and very humane about how he sometimes struggles with his kids and yet finds a (over dry, humourous) way of raising them.

I guess that's the words I associate most with Atticus: humane.

Sorry if this sounds sexist, but I wish more men were like Atticus; someone who's fair minded, rational and do not revolve his life solely on sexual passion.

Atticus is, of course, my favorite character...however, the second favorite would be Mr. Underwood... He might not have a major role but his two main actions (covering Atticus when the lynch mob comes for Tom and writing his editorial about Tom's killing being senseless) speak volumes...
