he kept from admitting that he had said he would chose Donna as his wife
Hmm. Not exactly a big surprise that he avoiding mentioning that bit. And it makes me feel sorry for both of them that he wasn't able to say it. But where would the story be without such reluctance? So I'm okay with it. :D
The Moment was listening in, and she was furious.
Ooooh, nice and ominous at the end there. Brilliant! It's certainly makes me want to read more.

They both had enough to process here without adding that to the mix. That the delay helps the story is good for me; without it there wouldn't have been the next awesome story. Also, they both need to reach a certain peace about feeling the way that they do. Oh, and the Doctor was yet to admit to himself WHY he was triggered to say that.
Yes, that galactic pest. You know, I'm still thinking about your comment about insecticide. Might not work here, but I'm wondering about another story... :D

The Doctor made it safely to the main teleport area, using the sonic to trace Donna's DNA and temporal signature. Once he picked up the trace he hurried to locate her. What had his future self meant? And why did he refuse to indicate which him he was? Was he the final incarnation?I was initially thinking that the reason that other version version of the Doctor didn’t say the number might have been both because the number of the regeneration and also since Gallifrey (and Ohila) are still around that Donna might survive the metacrisis so the Doctor won’t go all Time Lord Victorious with a broken marriage bond from the mindwipe…so if Donna’s okay then the original version of Twelve (MS) might not actually be formed…if this new timeline’s version of Twelve isn’t based on MS and isn’t PC either then I hope that it’s someone around the age of what Donna physically looks like…though if she has regenerated by the time that Eleven is regenerating then there’s possibly more wiggle room in the age range ( ... )

Donna nodded slowly. “You're accurate enough. But the biggest thing is that they're fleeting. So is flirting. It's an attention-getter, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Anyone can flirt with anyone. But to place the other's well-being above yours? To wish to be mutually supportive to each other? To value their company so much that you want it for the rest of your days? That's part of it. It's about trust, respect for what the other brings and their unique traits, and bringing out the best in each other. You make each other feel better able to handle whatever comes, and you are witnesses to each other's lives. And from watching my parents, I can tell you that love is as much of a decision as instinct. It feels right to be with the person, and you make the decision daily to be a loving partner to them ( ... )

I’m really hoping that Eight has a number of years/centuries together with Donna and his family before his regeneration is triggered…I mean he definitely has something to protect by being careful of his actions…and even Ten was cautioning his and Eight’s actions when they first met…so obviously the lesson about being more careful has mostly stuck.
