Inspired by my trip to Trinity Site this last weekend, I thought I'd put together a list of geeky sight-seeing stops in New Mexico. Additions, and any other comments (even just a list of the ones you've visited) are welcome.

tkil! I can't believe you left off the Space Murals Museum !!! I should also mention the Spaceport, but visitors might mistake it for a concrete mobile home slab! Anyway, awesome list of NM sites.

Didn't realized they'd made it into quite a production. Guess I'll have to add it to the list and visit it the next time I'm in LC (which should be in a few weeks for the party).

And the Spaceport ... well, I'll leave that under the "when they build it, I'll visit it" heading. :)

Thanks! We had a good time, and most of our guests seem to have as well -- and that latter was a big deal, so I'm happy with that.

I hear you have your own big news that deserves congratulations (and/or sympathies on not getting any sleep nor having any money for the next 18+ years). So congrats!

Hope to see you at the party, but if not, I plan on visiting LC much more often now that it's only 3 hours away. :)

I assume you're talking about Trinity Site? Yeah, they're only open twice a year, but it's very predictable: first Saturday of April and October. Those are close but not quite to the times you're usually in town, IIRC, so maybe you can bend one or the other to include one of those weekends?

natural and cultural wonders

Oh, this is far too big a topic for me to even try to list. I'd argue that almost the entire state qualifies as a general natural wonder; living here for 15+ years before, and now looks like I'm in for another 10+, has blunted my appreciation a bit, but it's still amazing.

I've been to quite a few of the sites you mention, but not to all of them, and many not in 20+ years. Maybe when the kids are a bit older, we can do some driving around the state and into neighboring states. We'll see. I know that they weren't really up for the Carlsbad trip, and that was "only" 5 hours each way driving, with a pretty big payoff at the end.)
