Please Help Me Make Sense of The Wedding of River Song (finally finished S6 of DW)

I FINALLY finished S6 of Doctor Who last night! Whew. It only took me about 6 months. Now if I could just make sense of what I watched...Anyone care to explain it to me? Well I think you hit the nail on the head with all your questions. Moffat's style is not to connect the plot points. He leaves a lot more open than most DW showrunners. He's more about hitting the viewer with big events than filling in back stories. It's just his style There is a portion of the DW viewership that prefers this style and then there is a portion that prefers more character based episodes with a bit more background filled in ( ... )

Thanks so much for your response Dev! I really appreciate it and you actually did help me understand a few things a bit better. But whew! I'm so glad that I am not alone in thinking this episode made almost no sense. I have not read any of the 1000 theories (ha ha - and I doubt that you are exaggerating by much) that you mentioned. I guess if I had watched it when it aired, I would have done so but I probably won't seek them out (unfortunately I just don't care enough).

when it aired twitter and tumblr were alight with comments and theories and vague ideas etc, but it was pretty clear that no-one really UNDERSTOOD it and everyone was just putting their own spin on it as a result of that.

I'd say shaking your head and moving on is probably the safest bet, at least as far as you sanity is concerned, lol

I can imagine tumblr blowing up after that aired for sure! I almost wish I'd been around to see it. I have now moved on to trying to wrap my head around S7a instead (though I'm not trying very hard honestly).
Just a couple more episodes to go until The Snowmen. I will accomplish this goal of catching up before Saturday's episode even if it kills me to do it (and really, watching your favorite show shouldn't feel like so much work!)
